Hello Qaqqalik ! We’re looking for someone who could translate and upload on kl.wikipedia this page. Can you help us please? It’s very important for us. Thanks a lot !--Aeron10 16. Feb 2011, 05:26 (UTC)Svar

Hello Aeron10! I'm sure your request now and then is read by greenlandic wiki users (readers) in other wikis. They only not wanted to translate it to greenlanding. --Qaqqalik 16. Feb 2011, 22:55 (UTC)Svar

Kayak mittens

aaqqissoruk

Hi, for the german article about kayak mittens (de:Kajakhandschuh) I would like to ask somebody from Greenland, who speeks Grønlandsk (sprog): what are the original inuit name for them: Aaqqatit, Qajartuutit, Maattaalit or Matât? What is correct and what is wrong. Maybe you can find somebody for me, who has some more information about kayak mittens, that I could use for the article (there is not many information on english and german in the web). Thanks. --Bin im Garten 31. Mar 2011, 13:13 (UTC)Svar

Hi Bin im Garten. I recognize the words "aaqqatit" and "qajartuutit". Words "Mattaalit" or "Matât" are for me kind of strange. I think it's in Eastern greenlandic words (?). If not some can correct me here or add comments. Kayak mittens in greenlandic is "Qajartormermik aaqqatit" direct translating to english: "Mittens to sailing with kayak" then "Qajartuutit" direct translating will sound like this: "tools to sailing with kayak". Hope my reply is understandably --Qaqqalik 31. Mar 2011, 18:28 (UTC)Svar
Very helpful, thank you. Can you write me the prononciation in International Phonetic Alphabet? [ʌkʌ'tɪt]? (it has not to be absolutely exact, but at least what letters you speeak long and what syllable you stress) Is Eastern greenlandic a different language or only a dialect? Is "Qajartormermik aaqqatit" a Western greenlandic word? In the British Museum ([1]) they call them simply "aaqqatit". Is this correct or can you call them only "Qajartormermik aaqqatit"? Do they sell today traditional kayak mittens in Greenland? Are they still in use? Or is this all history and gone? Do you think, that these (File:Kajakhandschuh Mike Krüger.jpg) are real kayak mittens or are they only underwear under real waterproof kajak mittens? Can you find some more information about kayak mittens in greenlandic language in the world wide web? Maybe on danish? Can you put the mittens from the left hand also on the right hand or is every kayak mitten specially made for one (left or right) hand. (Is there a special left-hand-mitten and a special right hand mitten?) Can you buy them today in shops in greenland? Where they made in the past by every family by its own or where they made by specialised craftsmen? --Bin im Garten 1. Apr 2011, 17:45 (UTC)Svar
How to pronunciation. I'll try this: [qaya'do'næ'mek a:'qa'tet] (i think!). "Qajartornermik aaqqatit" is a western greenlandic (most used greenlandic language). Eastern greenlandic are similar with our language but it can have another dialect. A photo you refered seems it's knitted mittens, a demo how a kayak mittens looks like or it can be you're right about they are underwear to those mittens. And that link to British Museum I think it's tells everything. If they only call them "aaqqatit" will be a explanation that it's a greenlandic language. I think there's a lot of different mittens we use in daily, for winter cold or mittens for other practical use, etc. I don't think they sell today traditional kayak mittens (I can't find them in store or in other shops), but they still use today that they only make them at home (home made) or in privat use. If they are for right-left handed is indefferent (I think). I don't know where I can find information. Try google. --Qaqqalik 1. Apr 2011, 20:28 (UTC)Svar
Is "aaqqatit" the general greenlandic word for all kinds of mittens? (also for gloves?) And "aaqqat" (engl. kayak sleeves) the word for sleeves? Could you write also the pronunciation of "Qajartuutit"? How do you call kayak mittens in danish language? --Bin im Garten 2. Apr 2011, 19:40 (UTC)Svar
All kind of general mittens also gloves we call them "aaqqatit" (plural, then in singular: "aaqqat"). In danish calls: "Kajak vanter" or "Kajak hansker". "Qajartuutit" pronounced [qa'ya(r)'doo'tet]. --Qaqqalik 2. Apr 2011, 20:52 (UTC)Svar
Thank you for your information, really very intresting, I includes it in the german article. These Kayak mittens are very unknown in Germany. --Bin im Garten 9. Apr 2011, 15:52 (UTC)Svar

Grønlandsk oversettelse av MediaWiki

aaqqissoruk

Hei, Gerthn! Okt 2016, 21:30 (UTC)Svar

Your advanced permissions on klwikipedia

aaqqissoruk

Hello. A policy regarding the removal of "advanced rights" (administrator, bureaucrat, etc.) was adopted by community consensus in 2013. According to this policy, the stewards are reviewing activity on wikis with no inactivity policy.

You meet the inactivity criteria (no edits and no log actions for 2 years) on this wiki. Since this wiki, to the best of our knowledge, does not have its own rights review process, the global one applies.

If you want to keep your advanced permissions, you should inform the community of the wiki about the fact that the stewards have sent you this information about your inactivity. A community notice about this process has been also posted on the local Village Pump of this wiki. If the community has a discussion about it and then wants you to keep your rights, please contact the stewards at the m:Stewards' noticeboard, and link to the discussion of the local community, where they express their wish to continue to maintain the rights.

If you wish to resign your rights, please request removal of your rights on Meta.

If there is no response at all after one month, stewards will proceed to remove your administrator and/or bureaucrat rights. In ambiguous cases, stewards will evaluate the responses and will refer a decision back to the local community for their comment and review. If you have any questions, please contact the stewards.

Yours faithfully, Einsbor (diskussion) 28. Mar 2019, 13:08 (UTC)Svar

Hi, due to inactivity I removed your advanced rights. Thank you for your past work. Einsbor (diskussion) 12. Apr 2019, 09:47 (UTC)Svar

Request

aaqqissoruk

@Gerthn Hi dear Gerth Nathansen!

I am from Albania and I have a request. I wanted to create an article for Albania in Greenlandic Wikipedia but I am not sure if the content I translated from English to Greenlandic is written correctly. I have translated a content from the article about Albania from English to Greenlandic language and I want from you to check if it's correct, then use this translated content to Greenlandic to write the article about Albania in Greenlandic Wiki, the link of the content is here (English content and the translated content to Greenlandic):

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/dj9rm9rb688tbjelhcdy2/albania_article_english_greenlandic.docx?rlkey=ddzdzr8afllewf328lkzfzzgd&st=bli9qwpj&dl=0

If is translated correctly from the English words I used to translate to Greenlandic, use the translated content to Greenlandic to write the article for Albania in Greenlandic Wiki. If isn't correct, correct the content yourself and write it correctly in Greenlandic in the Greenlandic Wiki.

Or you may write the article for Albania in Greenlandic Wiki, in your own words.

I would thank you so much if you will create the article for Albania in Greenlandic Wiki, with the content I used to translate from English to Greenlandic or in your own words.
